How to Contour Lips

Full, pouty lips are all the rage these days. Even if you don’t have naturally full lips, using contouring is a simple way to create the effect of a plump mouth. All you have to do is find the right shade of lip liner and lipstick, then just apply the correct lines to create the illusion of full, large lips. Use contouring to create a dramatic pout or try a natural look that makes your lips larger without adding too much color.

Prepare your lips by exfoliating and adding lip balm. Draw an M in the center of your bottom lip using lip liner. - When you're done lining, use a lip brush or your finger to gently smear the liner inward and towards your mouth. This will make your lip liner appear softer and more natural.

Apply lipstick within the boundaries of your lip liner. Start at the center of your upper lip, then draw the lipstick out towards the corner of your mouth where the top lip meets the bottom lip. If you choose to overline your lips, consider just overlining the cupid’s bow and the center of your lower lip. Overlining the entire outline of your lips can create an overdone or artificial look, especially during the daytime.

If you don't have sensitive skin, try a lip plumper to make your lips look larger. Lip plumpers are essentially irritants that draw blood to your lips to enlarge them. You want to check for allergies when using these and test them on the sensitive skin inside of your wrist.

At the end of the night, remove all lip product and wash your lips to remove the dirt and bacteria from the pores and skin cells. Top them off with a moisturizer/lip balm, and you're good to go!
