How to Connect a Mac to Chromecast

This How.com.vn teaches you how to connect your Mac computer to a Google Chromecast streaming device. This is done through a process Google calls ‘Casting’. To Cast, you’ll need the latest version of the Google Chrome browser. You can cast any streaming video, files from your computer, and even your computer screen.

Method 1 of 3:

Casting Videos From Streaming Sites (Netflix, Hulu, Etc.)

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast.
    • Click

      in your menu bar and select the network your Chromecast is using.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Open the Google Chrome web browser by clicking on icon.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Navigate to your streaming website of choice.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Play the show, movie, or video you want to Cast.
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Click ⁝ in the top right corner of your Chrome browser.
    The ‘More’ button looks like three grey vertical dots next to the address bar.

  7. How.com.vn English: Step 7 Select your Chromecast from the list of devices.
    This will stream the video to your TV connected to the Chromecast. Video will play on your Mac and your TV, but audio will only play on your TV.

      • When casting video, you will see the video on your Mac and on your TV, but you’ll only hear audio on your TV.
      • You can avoid having to click the ‘More’ button to get to ‘Cast’ by right-clicking the Cast button and selecting ‘Always show icon’. This will pin the Cast button to your menu next to the search bar.
