How to Complete a CVS Prescription Delivery in Shipt Shopper

If you are a gig-worker for Shipt and have received notice that you are eligible to deliver prescriptions to customers from a CVS in your Metro but the process is new and confusing, don't be alone. However, with these steps, you should be less confused when it actually comes to performing the gig and making the money for it. It is too simple when you see it first-hand.

Part 1
Part 1 of 5:

Preparation

  1. 1
Open the Shipt Shopper app. The Shipt Shopper app is dark green and has a green bag outlined in a lighter green border, the name Shipt below this. On iPhones, the title of the app below this icon will show as just "Shopper."
    • If you are also an Instacart Shopper, try not to confuse these apps. Although the two icons are different, their titles are the same.
  2. 2
Check out if there are any CVS's in your Metro. If there are, Shipt might nominate you to take the test and begin delivering these orders.
  3. 3
Take the certification course and test using the same email address as your Shipt Shopper account.[1] At first, you'll be given an orientation about your CVS prescription deliveries. They'll cover how CVS wants you to deliver and announce yourself and even how they'll like you to handle these deliveries
    • To be given these deliveries, you must obtain a perfect score on the test, but there's no maximum number of attempts per day in which to take and pass it! The questions and multiple-choice answer positions never change, but you will want to take the certification course and listen for details with the intent to follow them to the T!
    • One of the things you'll be told is that you will not be allowed to look into the customer's bag - given the non-flexibility of the tape used - no matter how tempting it may be. However, there are other rules that you'll be given as the course goes on.

Part 2 of 5:

Getting Your First Prescription Delivery

  1. 1
Wait for an order. Order offer cards will come up in your Available Orders screen showing the CVS pharmacy logo and a purple "label" in the top left corner of the card saying "Delivery Only". Within the same card, you'll also see additional details such as it's Delivery Window and date and the total number of minutes they expect the delivery to take (between the store and the customer).
    • Don't be shocked if you see a store location within a Target store. Many Target locations have CVS pharmacies inside them, and you'll simply need to walk up to the pharmacy and ask at the pharmacy counter.
  2. 2
Peruse the customer's delivery details, if you'd like. Tap either the three dots icon in the top right corner of the request (then tap View map) or tap the pin icon in the bottom left corner of the request.
  3. 3
Claim the order, if you'd like to complete it. If this request seems palatable, you can tap "Claim Order" from this screen and continue, or tap the X button and return and wait for another order.
    • If you tap either of the addresses on this screen, you can send these addresses right to your navigation app of choice, so you can have a further look at these locations there instead.

Part 3 of 5:

Getting to the Pickup Spot

  1. 1
Navigate to the Store Locations' pickup spot. If you need help, send the address to your navigation app. Open the order page from the My Orders tab and tap the "Pick-up address" line. (You can also tap the store icon from the top right corner of the order details screen and tap "Navigate to store". If you don't need help, don't worry about running navigation. The address can be found under "Pick-Up Details" section of the order page.
    • Shipt Shopper advises its Shoppers to get to the store no more than fifteen minutes before the beginning of their Delivery Window.
  2. 2
Scroll down on the page to see the list of buttons you tap to complete the process.
  3. 3
Complete the next part of the process. From the Shipt Shopper Hub's help page, they begin saying how you are supposed to pull up to the drive-thru whenever possible, but then begin their steps as if you walk into the store, ending in step 2 with saying that you can't use the drive-thru window!
  4. 4
Walk towards the Consultation desk and wait until someone assists you. For using the drive-up, you may need to mention that you are the Shipt Shopper picking up the prescription for the customer, and you can follow the details in the next section below.
  5. 5
Mark yourself as "Arrived at store" as you arrive at the pharmacy counter (or drive-up window).
  6. 6
Confirm you'd like to mark yourself as arrived at the store. On the dialog box saying " Mark as arrived at store? Are you sure you want to mark this order as arrived at store?" tap the "Yes" button.

Part 4 of 5:

Getting the Prescription(s)

  1. 1
Tell them that you have an "On-Demand prescription order for Shipt". They'll ask the name of the customer. Try saying something like "I'm the Shipt Shopper coming to pick up the On-Demand order for (customer name).
    • The "On-Demand" designation is a major designation to mention, as this supersedes anything else about the prescription pickup that makes this one different than anything else they have from other orders given to other customers.
  2. 2
Let the CVS employee take over. If they ask for additional payment or a date of birth, show them your screen as you can tell them that you don't have access to that information and that these orders are already prepaid - but they can look through their "RXNet"(sic) or "LEARNet"(sic) computers for additional details if necessary - where they will often need to click buttons on their end.
  3. 3
Let the pharmacy employee hand you the prescription bag. The bag will generally be taped by a blue-colored tape similar to Duct tape, and overtop of this (or near this) should be a label that you can use for the next step.
    • If they tell you that it needs to be refrigerated, tell them that you'll let the customer know - then walk away - texting the customer before marking the order under the next steps - however, you might not get very many of those prescription requests.
  4. 4
Verify the name and/or address of the customer matches what you have for your customer onscreen. Look for this under the "Drop-Off Details" section labeled "Drop-off address." If at least the addresses match, check the name. If the name matches, great. If not, ask if there's any others or if there were changes made after the delivery was sent to Shipt for filling. If they say it's their only name, take it with a grain of salt in hopes this is what is happening. If it isn't their only name, talk to someone knowledgable with the process.
  5. 5
Scroll the page back down to the bottom and tap the circular button to the left of "Mark as picked up".
  6. 6
Confirm you'd like to mark the order as picked up at the store. On the dialog box saying " Mark as picked up Are you sure you want to mark this order as picked up?" tap the "Yes" button.
  7. 7
Send an On the Way text to the customer. CVS requires that you send this message.[2] Tap the Contact Details line once, and Shipt Shopper will prefill a message saying "Hi (first name), this is your Shipt shopper (your first name). I just picked up your order from CVS. I'm on my way, see you soon!"
    • If they don't have a Contact Details line, there may be a bug - in which case, tap the Store icon in the top right corner of the order details screen and tap "Text message" from the dialog box at the bottom of the screen. Compose a message manually saying you've picked up their order from the CVS Pharmacy location and are on the way to them. Follow your device-specific instructions for sending the message from there.
      • Random orders sometimes glitch out, and your only fix is to let them know through substitute/secondary measures (which isn't ideal but is workable)!
  8. 8
Set the prescription bag into a cool place in your car - away from the sun. Most often, your best spot will be found sitting on the floor of your car - away from direct sunlight.

Part 5 of 5:

Delivering

  1. 1
Don't worry about the Delivery notes section. This is prefilled by the CVS team as just "Rx" and will not likely have anything else to read that corresponds to these deliveries.
  2. 2
Navigate to the customer. If you need help with the most direct navigated route, tap the "Drop-off address" line, and your address will be sent to your navigation app.
  3. 3
Bring the prescription up to the customer's door. Knock on the door or ring the doorbell. Hand the customer their prescription, say "Thank you" and walk back. If the customer tells you through text that it's okay to leave it outside their door, thank them.[3] Complete it that way, but CVS requires you to not leave it at the door unless the customer says it's okay to do so.
    • Send them a picture of their prescription you've dropped off - if your customer says it's okay to drop them off outside their door. Thank them with a text message too.
    • Choose to put their prescription down on doormats if the customer asks to set it outside their door. If they don't have a doormat, send them the picture where they want it to go showing the nearby area a little bit.
    • If the customer doesn't show and doesn't respond to messaging and ringing the doorbell doesn't help either, you may need to contact Shipt who can contact the customer. CVS wants you to return undeliverable goods back to the store and receive further instructions.[4]
  4. 4
Complete the customer signature. CVS now requires customers to sign for their prescription orders. However, you must get consent to signing the signature pad for them. Each order's situation will be different, but some you can just hand, let them know, and sign. Others will need a little more help in convincing them. Tap the "Complete member's signature" radio checkbox - have them sign for their order (or you sign if they provided consent) and tap "Accept" which can be found towards the left-hand side of the device down in the bottom left corner - labeled sideways (if looked at in its landscape format).
    • Pharmacy orders are the only orders that now require customer signatures - no other Delivery Only orders will require these at this time.
  5. 5
Tap the button to the left of "Mark as delivered".
  6. 6
Confirm you'd like to mark the prescription as delivered. On the dialog box saying " Mark as Delivered Are you sure you want to mark this order as delivered?" tap the "Yes" button.
  7. 7
Wait for the screen to stop processing the order. When Shipt Shopper brings you back to your My Orders page (with either a clean slate or a page with other orders without this one), this order has been delivered successfully.

      Tips

      • If you accidentally deliver to the wrong address, report back to the wrong address to pick up the prescription and return it to the store immediately.
