Hissing is a normal reaction to being picked up for the first time. However, clicking and popping are aggressive acts that mean "get away from me." If your hedgehog does this when first being picked up, it means it has been poorly socialized so you’ll need to spend extra time with it. If it does this when you try to pet it, it may dislike being petted.
