7 Easy Ways to Block a Phone Contact on iPhone, Android, & More

This How.com.vn teaches you how to block a phone number on an iPhone, Android, or landline phone, as well as how to add your phone number to the Do Not Call registry.

Blocking a Number: Quick Instructions

iPhone: Open the Phone app and tap "Recents" or "Contacts." Tap the information icon next to a number and tap "Block this Caller" > "Block "Contact."
Android: Open the Phone app, tap the three dots, tap "Call History," and select a number. Tap "Block/report spam" > "Block."
Landline: Dial "*60" and follow the instructions, or contact your carrier.

This app is green with a white phone receiver icon. You'll find it on the Home Screen or in the springboard at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to block a non-contact number that recently called you, tap Recents. To block a contact, tap Contacts.

It should be the last option on the page.

The Google Phone app comes pre-installed on many Android devices. It has an icon that resembles a blue phone receiver.
It's in the top-right corner of the Phone screen. A drop-down menu will appear.

Enter the number you want to block. Tap the text field, then type in the number you want to block.

Check your phone's manual for phone-specific instructions. Some landline phones have built-in features to block calls. If your phone does, you'll find instructions in its manual.

- Most manuals have a section dedicated to call blocking, filtering, or something similar.

Open the DNC registry site. Adding your number to the Do Not Call registry will decrease the number of spam calls you receive. Go to https://www.donotcall.gov/ in a web browser.

It's a brown button on the right side of the page.
You'll see this in the middle of the page.

Enter your phone number. You can add up to three phone numbers at once (one per phone number field).

How can I tell if I am being blocked?

The best was to tell if your number has been blocked is to call the suspected number. If after one ring the phone goes directly to voicemail (similar to when the phone is not powered on), then call the phone back, blocking your number by dialing *67 prior to dialing the phone number. See if someone picks up then.
