How to Block Facebook Tags on PC or Mac

This How.com.vn teaches you how to change your Facebook account's timeline and tagging settings in order to limit the audience of the posts you're tagged in, and tags added to your posts by other people, using an internet browser.

Steps

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open Facebook in...
    Open Facebook in your internet browser. Type www.facebook.com into the address bar, and hit Enter or Return on your keyboard.
    • If you're not automatically signed in, enter your email or phone, and your password into the sign-in form in the upper-right corner, and click Log In.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Click the icon icon on the top-right.
    This button is on a blue navigation bar in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will open a drop-down menu.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Click Settings on the menu.
    This will open your account settings on a new page.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Click Timeline and Tagging on the left sidebar.
    You can find this option between Privacy and Location on the left-hand side of your screen.

    The drop-down here shows your current privacy setting for who can see your tags on your timeline.

    When this option is selected, nobody other than yourself will be able to see the posts you're tagged in on your own timeline.

    Click Edit next to "When you're tagged in a post, who do you want to add to the audience of the post if they can't already see it?" This option allows you to limit the audience of all the posts you're tagged in, including posts on other users's timelines.

    When this option is selected, your tags will not appear in places like News Feed and search.
  10. How.com.vn English: Step 10 Click Edit next to "Review posts you're tagged in before the post appears on your timeline?

    When this option is enabled, you'll get a notification whenever somebody tags you in a post.
    • You can then review the tagged post, and either approve the tag, or reject it and remove the post from your own timeline.
  12. Step 12 Click Edit next to "Review tags people add to your posts before the tags appear on Facebook?
    " This option will allow you to review all the tags other people add to your own posts.
  13. How.com.vn English: Step 13 Select Enabled in the drop-down.
    This way, you'll get a notification whenever somebody adds a new tag to any of your own posts.
    • If you reject a tag added to your posts by somebody else, the tag will be removed from Facebook.
