How to Be More Like Jesus (Christianity)

Download ArticleDownload Article

To be like Jesus is being a person willing to put others before yourself, to seek wisdom, and to care about how you interact with all people you come across in life. Here are some ways to be more like Jesus.

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Enjoy reading the bible to develop your relationship with God.
Acts 20:32 says that the Word of God is able to build you up.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Love him.
Radiate that love with others. Jesus said in John 13:34-35 that people would know us if we had the agape love of God and demonstrate it to the world.
    • Have the right heart. Proverbs 4:23, "Above all things keep your heart for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your Heart and rely not on your own understanding."

  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Care for other people.
Treat others as you would like to be treated (Golden rule of Jesus in Matthew 7:12); think beyond yourself. Jesus forgave Peter even though Peter betrayed Jesus. Peter betrayed Jesus but Jesus would never betray Peter.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Be learned and wise.
Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and Man (Luke 2:52).
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Be humble...
Be humble. After Jesus washed His disciples feet, He said, "An example I have given you, that you should do likewise (John 13:15).
    • Deal with your pride and any boastfulness. Phil 2:5 says, "Let this humble mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus".
    • Be prepared to say sorry when you get something wrong.
  6. How.com.vn English: Step 6 Be considerate of others in all that you do.
I Corinthians 13:4 says that love is always patient and kind. It was also through love that Jesus healed the sick and His desire was that His followers would do the same thing (Matthew 14:14, Matthew 10:7-8)
  7. How.com.vn English: Step 7 Watch your tone of voice, your style of language (don't curse, blaspheme, etc.
). Always speak kindly of others and try to see things from their perspective. Jesus on the Cross said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34).

  • Question
Why it is so hard to live a Christian life?
    How.com.vn English: Community Answer
    Community Answer
Jesus says in the Bible, "Anyone who persecutes Me will persecute My followers." Satan is out there ready to destroy those who follow Jesus. However, faith and hope and prayer will help you through difficulties. Christians are killed, persecuted, bullied, stereotyped, judged, and mistreated because of their faith. No one can go through life without having problems with being a Christian. Remember that Jesus died for your sins and that your reward will be great.

      • Choose your words thoughtfully and speak to build people up, not tear them down. Avoid hurtful language, gossip, or judgment that pushes people away. Instead, build understanding by seeing issues from others' perspectives. Guidance from the spirit helps us communicate in loving ways.
      • Love generously: give encouragement, lend a listening ear, forgive mistakes, and put others first. Small acts of patience and kindness can make someone's day. Like Jesus washed the disciples' feet, look for opportunities — big and small — to serve.
      • Look for the good in everyone. Make time to understand people different from yourself — their stories, hopes, and challenges. Suspend judgment and welcome all as equally precious children of God. Thoughtful prayer helps you see them as Jesus would.
      • Open your Bible often. Let God's Word guide your growth in wisdom daily, the way Jesus continued learning his whole life. When facing tough choices, ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?" Scripture can build courage and understanding.
      • Stay grateful for the grace we're given. When you feel inadequate or fall short, remember Jesus' endless love and sacrifice that redeem our flaws. You have God-given talents and purpose, even with imperfections.
      • In tense moments, pause and pray for peace. Ask God for guidance to de-escalate conflict wisely, not escalate it. God can change hearts; approach clashes with grace and gentle words, just as Jesus calmed storms.
