How to Archive a Slack Channel on Android

This How.com.vn teaches you how to archive a Slack channel in order to remove it from your workspace's channel list, and close it for all members, using Android.

Steps

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open the Slack app on your Android.
    The Slack app looks like an "S" in a colored circle icon on your Apps menu.
    • If you're not automatically logged in, tap the blue SIGN IN button in the lower-left corner, and sign in to the workspace you want to edit.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Tap the workspace icon on the top-left.
    This button looks like the initials of your workspace's name in the upper-left corner of your screen. It will open your navigation menu on the left-hand side.

  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Tap the channel you want to archive.
    Find the channel under the CHANNELS heading on the menu, and tap it. This will open the channel chat.
    • If you want to switch to a different workspace, tap the four-squares icon in the upper-right corner of the menu, and select a different workspace.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Tap the channel's name at the top of the chat.
    Your channel's name is listed at the top of the chat conversation. Tapping it will open this channel's details on a new page.
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Scroll down and tap Archive.
    This option is written in red letters under the Advanced heading at the bottom of the menu.
    • You will have to confirm your action in a new pop-up window.
  6. How.com.vn English: Step 6 Tap ARCHIVE in the confirmation pop-up.
    This will remove the channel from the channel list, and close it for all members.

      • Archiving a channel will not delete the channel's chat history. Messages from this channel will still show up in all searches.
